Saint Felicity of Carthage was a Christian slave who was martyred in 203 AD alongside Saint Perpetua for refusing to renounce her faith. Despite being heavily pregnant, she endured imprisonment and suffering, giving birth to her daughter just days before her execution. Her child was taken and raised by fellow Christians, ensuring her legacy lived on. Felicity was then thrown to wild beasts in the arena but ultimately killed by the sword, dying with unshaken faith. She is venerated as a symbol of maternal love, steadfast devotion, and courage in the face of persecution and her daughter is symbolic of that virtue. Though Felicity’s life was taken, her daughter became a living testament to her faith, carrying forward her mother’s strength and belief—passing it beyond one life into the future.
