The worship of Baal 😈 was widespread throughout the Levant, including Canaan, Phoenicia, and later even Carthage. His cult involved temples, sacrifices, and religious ceremonies designed to secure his favour and ensure prosperity. Prophets like Elijah and Hosea condemned the worship of Baal, emphasizing the exclusive worship of Yahweh. One of the most famous biblical stories is Elijah’s confrontation with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18), where Yahweh is depicted as the true God.

Over time, Baal became demonized in later Jewish and Christian traditions. By the medieval period, he was reinterpreted as a demonic figure, appearing in grimoires and demonology under names like Baal or Bael.
